April 23, 2024

The Media Industries 2024 Conference took place from the 16th to the 19th of April 2024 at the King’s College London. The conference served as a vibrant melting pot for researchers, practitioners, and media enthusiasts. Over four dynamic days, panelists and roundtable participants delve into the broad field of media industries, exploring their practices, impacts and processes, among others. From historical contexts to contemporary challenges, the conference aims at bridging gaps and sparking interdisciplinary conversations.

Aina Errando, PhD researcher at imec-SMIT, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, shared valuable insights from her ongoing research, conducted in collaboration with Heritiana Ranaivoson and Adelaida Afilipoaie as part of the ALGEPI project. Their presentation highlighted the current challenges in implementing News Recommender Systems (NRS) in Spanish newsrooms, emphasizing the importance of bridging “tech-editorial gaps” and promoting collaboration among stakeholders within news organizations.
